Since 2022, TVF has actively worked with our partners to phase out materials containing per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and develop safer alternatives. More than 90% of the products we offer now use PFAS alternatives.
PFAS refers to a group of over 8,000 chemicals that include some element of fluorine bonded with carbon. These chemicals are often used to make finishes and products that provide unique properties such as heat, oil, stain, grease, and water resistance.
TVF has prioritized the elimination of PFAS chemical substances where technically and commercially feasible. In some instances, a suitable PFAS alternative that meets TVF’s rigorous quality standards and specifications may not be available. In these instances, TVF will continue to work closely with customers to ensure they are aware of the impact of the materials being manufactured.
Due to the health and safety risks of PFAS chemicals, several states have enacted legislation that restricts or impacts products containing PFAS. PFAS continues to be an active area of legislation and regulation at both state and federal levels. We encourage all customers who use these chemicals to seek legal guidance to understand what, if any, implications these evolving regulations may bring to their business.
TVF will make PFAS-related information available to the best of our ability. Customers who would like specific details can contact TVF and we will work closely with you to provide the requested documentation as available. Customers who are interested in discussing non-PFAS textiles and alternatives can talk with TVF team members for more information.
